JOHN 3:3
Being born again is the starting point in God’s plan for the redemption of mankind to Himself. God is Spirit and to bring man to Himself, He is bringing man back to the spirit realm which man fell out through disobedient.
In man’s tripartite state ie body, soul and spirit. It is only the body and soul that do change or evolve. The spirit, which is an offspring of the Father, never change. It is constant from birth to death where it returns to the Source. It is the essence of our individuality as distinguish from our personality which is from the soul.
Because of freewill, the Spirit does not control us like automaton, rather, we allow it to take charge. And it takes charge on one condition – Total Possession.
The Spirit and the Soul
The Spirit takes from the Father to us while the soul takes from the material world to us. When a child is born, the spirit is fully manifested. As the child grows, the soul is developing by observing its surrounding ie taking information from around itself. As the soul grows, the Spirit is pushed to the background. As personality (soul-fed) is being built upon, the individuality (spirit-fed) is relegated.
Hence, importance is given to a growing child because, as the soul is built upon, these foundation which he learn first automatically becomes a criteria for selection or sieving information to build upon a growing soul. Herein, if he started with bad information, anything otherwise will not be part of the building block
Therefore, whatsoever was the foundation of that personality – soul, it would choose building blocks relating to it and as the man is growing, his personality becomes more manifested whether good or bad.
The Awakening
There comes a time when a man, in his mind, will come to realized that he is an individual, that he is fearfully and wonderfully made. A time he will realized that he has been drifting with the world, trying to pattern with world standards and that his personality which he so much invested in, is leading him to nowhere because personality takes from that which are seen and are temporal (2 Cor. 4:18).
That moment itself is Divine Consciousness touching your soul and prompting it to come higher. That was the moment Nicodemus saw himself when he came to the Master saying, “what must I do to be saved?”. The Master told him to start again, anew and afresh.
Born of the Spirit
Christ revealed to him the spiritual essence, that before, you were born of the flesh to walk and build your personality according to the flesh. But now, you are to be born of the Spirit, to walk according to the Spirit, to build your individuality according to the Spirit.
In the first birth, the spirit was going down and the soul coming up. In the second birth, the Spirit is being manifested while the soul is being stilled. This is the time when we cease to see things with the carnal mind – sickness, pain, poverty, sorrow, hatred, greed, death, now we see with the spiritual mind good, peace and life (Rom 8:6).
Into the Kingdom of God
Therefore, the starting of the Christian life is when we dedicate our lives to God by being born of the Spirit and Water. And the Spirit will be in control and reveal the truth that will lead you into the Kingdom of God. No one can ascend to the Father without being born again.
